Brewcrumbs Terms of Use

Last Updated: 27 October 2026

Brewcrumbs is a free recipe book and brew log from H&S Home Brew Supplies (ABN 79 405 696 498), with shops in Nerang and Oxenford, Queensland. These terms cover your use of Brewcrumbs. Your H&S account, orders and the online shop are covered by our website's Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy, which also apply.

1. Using Brewcrumbs

It's free, and it's new. Brewcrumbs is free for anyone with an H&S account. It's in beta, which means it's still being built: things may change, move or occasionally break. We'll do our best to keep your records safe, but please download your records now and then (Other actions › Download your records on anything you've started).

You need to be 18 or over. Brewcrumbs is about making alcohol, among other things.

Keep your account to yourself. Your Brewcrumbs records are part of your H&S account, so anyone who can sign in to it can see them. Keep your password private.

Use it fairly. Don't try to break, overload or get around how Brewcrumbs works, use it to send spam, or use it for anything illegal. We may set sensible limits, such as how many recipes you can save or how many emails you can send in a day. Brewcrumbs tells you if you reach one.

We can change or stop Brewcrumbs. We may change Brewcrumbs, pause it, or stop offering it. If we're stopping it for good, we'll give you notice and a chance to download your records first, unless we can't (for example, for legal or security reasons). We may stop an account from using Brewcrumbs, or parts of it like sharing, if these terms are broken.

2. Brewing, Cooking and Safety

Brewcrumbs is a guide, not a guarantee. Steps, timers, temperature advice, readings, "it's finished" checks and strength estimates are there to help. They depend on what you tell Brewcrumbs and on things it can't see: your equipment, ingredients, temperatures and cleaning. Always use your own judgement.

Brew safely. Bottling before fermentation has finished can make bottles burst. Check your readings, use bottles made for carbonation, and follow the directions on your ingredients and equipment. Gas bottles, regulators and kegs need care: follow the maker's instructions.

Cook and store food safely. For cooking, cheese and anything else you eat, follow safe food-handling practice: cook to safe temperatures, keep things cold that need it, and take extra care with food for children, older people, anyone pregnant, and people with allergies. If in doubt, throw it out.

Drink responsibly. Strengths shown are estimates. Keep alcohol away from children, and don't drink and drive.

Distilling isn't covered. Brewcrumbs doesn't give instructions for distilling. Distilling at home has its own legal rules; see Distilling Legal Information on our website.

3. Your Information

What we keep. Brewcrumbs keeps what you put into it: your brews, readings, notes, tasting notes, recipes, ratings, shopping list, settings and choices. We use it to run Brewcrumbs for you. We handle it as our Privacy Policy describes.

Your records are yours. You can download your records at any time. You can delete brews and recipes yourself. To have all your Brewcrumbs information removed, ask us (see Contact Us). Recipes you shared that others have already copied stay in their copies.

4. Your Recipes and What You Share

Your recipes are private unless you share them. Other Brewcrumbs users can't see a recipe you write or save unless you choose to share it. H&S staff can technically get to customer recipes, as can anyone who runs a website. We only look at one if you ask us to help with it, if it has been reported, or if the law requires it. We never sell your recipes, share them or use them ourselves.

Family secrets. Brewcrumbs isn't a safe or a vault. For a recipe that must stay secret, you might leave out the key detail (write "Nan's spice mix" rather than what's in it) and keep that part to yourself.

Sharing is your choice, recipe by recipe. You can choose:

  • Just me: nobody else can see it.
  • Friends with the link: anyone you send the link to can see it once they sign in to Brewcrumbs.
  • Everyone: every Brewcrumbs user can find it, make it and rate it.

You can change this, or delete the recipe, at any time. When you stop sharing, others can no longer open it, but brews they have already started from it keep their own copy of the recipe.

We check the first recipes you share. The first two recipes you share are checked by H&S before anyone else can see them. We may decline or take down any shared recipe or comment, at any time and without notice, including anything we think is unsafe, illegal, offensive, misleading, spam, advertising, or not really a recipe.

What you give us permission to do. By sharing a recipe, you let H&S show it, along with your sharing name, to other Brewcrumbs users, for as long as it is shared. You keep ownership of your recipe.

Others can make your shared recipe their own. When you share a recipe, other brewers who can see it can make it, and save their own copy to tweak and brew again. Their copy always says it's based on yours, with your sharing name. If they share their version and someone copies that, both of you stay credited: the version it was copied from, and the original.

Only share what's yours to share. When you share a recipe, you're telling us it's your own, or that you have the right to share it. If it's based on someone else's recipe (a book, a website, a mate, another brewer here), say so in the recipe, for example "Based on…". Don't copy someone else's published recipe, method or photos word for word. You're responsible for what you share, not H&S. We don't check where recipes came from, and we aren't responsible for a recipe someone shares without the right to.

If you think something here is yours. If a shared recipe copies your work without permission or credit, tell us (Report, or contact us) and we'll look at it and take it down if it's not right.

Your sharing name. Shared recipes, ratings and comments show the name you choose, not your email or surname. Don't use a name that pretends to be someone else, or that is rude.

5. Ratings and Comments

You can rate a recipe and leave a short comment once you have started a brew from it. Keep it about the recipe. A bit of colourful language is fine; abuse, threats, hate, or comments about real people are not. Don't include personal details (yours or anyone else's), links or advertising. Others can report a recipe or comment they think breaks these rules. If something gets several reports, it is hidden until we look at it. We may stop an account from sharing or commenting.

Ratings and comments are written by Brewcrumbs users, not by H&S. They are their own views. We don't check them before they appear and we aren't responsible for what other users write. If a comment is abusive, threatening, hateful, about a real person, or otherwise breaks these terms, please use Report. You are responsible for what you write.

6. Other People's Recipes, and Ours

Other people's recipes are their own. Recipes shared by other Brewcrumbs users are written by them, not by H&S. We don't test or check them for safety, accuracy or results, even when we have approved them to be shown. You use them at your own risk. This matters most for food and for alcohol strength. Use your own judgement, and if in doubt, don't.

Our recipes. H&S recipes are written to help you get a good result with what we sell, but results vary with ingredients, equipment and conditions.

Shopping list, prices and stock. The shopping list adds up what a recipe needs. Prices and stock shown are a guide and can change; what you pay is the price at the till or checkout. Check what you already have before you buy.

7. The Legal Bits

Nothing here takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Those rights can't be excluded, and these terms don't try to.

Otherwise, to the extent the law allows: Brewcrumbs is provided free, as it is, and we don't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that your records can never be lost. We aren't responsible for loss or damage from relying on Brewcrumbs, from a brew or cook not turning out, or from other users' recipes and comments.

Changes to these terms. If we change these terms, Brewcrumbs will ask you to read and accept the new version before you carry on. Small corrections that don't change what they mean may be made without asking.

Queensland law. These terms are governed by the law of Queensland, Australia.
